When Ting detects an electrical fire hazard, finding it is only part of the job. The next step is helping you get it fixed.
That’s why the Ting service includes a $1,000 lifetime hazard repair credit. If Ting detects an electrical fire hazard that requires a professional to repair (e.g. an electrician, plumber, or HVAC professional), the credit can help cover their labor costs.
It’s an important part of the Ting experience: helping families go from detecting a hidden hazard to resolving it.
What happens when Ting detects a hazard?
Every hazard is different. Our Fire Safety Team will guide you through the right next steps, whether that’s a simple DIY fix, working with your utility, or coordinating a repair with a qualified professional. When professional help is needed, our team can work directly with them to help moderate the repair over-the-phone and utilize your hazard repair credit to cover up to $1,000 in labor expense. In most all cases, the $1,000 credit covers the entire cost of the repair, so you pay nothing out of pocket.

What does the $1,000 credit cover?
Here’s the simplest way to think about it:
The Ting hazard repair credit applies to labor needed to repair a qualifying electrical fire hazard detected by Ting.
Here’s the fast facts:
- Ting needs to detect the hazard first. The credit is for qualifying electrical fire hazards identified through the Ting service, not general electrical work.
- The credit only applies to labor. Since labor drives most of the cost of resolving Ting-detected hazards, your credit can cover a significant part of the repair.
- The credit is a lifetime benefit. Each Ting sensor includes up to $1,000 in total hazard repair credit over the life of the service. For example, a typical $600 electrician visit would leave you with $400 in credit to use if Ting detects another qualifying hazard in the future.
- Work needs to be coordinated and approved through Ting. If a professional is needed, our Fire Safety Team is an essential part of the repair. We will work directly with the electrician or contractor over-the-phone to coordinate the visit and find & fix the hazard. You can work with a professional recommended through Ting or choose your own, as long as the work is approved in advance.
- You’re always in control. Ting will not send an electrician to your home without your approval.
“We had an arcing wire under an old roof connected to a light outside. Ting contacted me and after a few easy phone calls, they sent an electrician and the problem was solved in just a few hours. I didn’t pay for anything, the Ting $1,000 credit covered it all. Very grateful for how fast they reached out to me and worked with me to keep my home and family safe.”

What does the credit not cover?
The hazard repair credit is specifically for qualifying labor costs to resolve electrical fire hazards detected by Ting. It doesn’t apply to parts or equipment, general electrical work or upgrades, or repairs that aren’t related to a Ting-detected electrical fire hazard.
What about frozen pipe alerts? Ting can also help prevent frozen pipes, but the $1,000 hazard repair credit is specifically for qualifying electrical fire hazards and does not apply to frozen pipe prevention.
“Ting is amazing. We figured out over the phone that it was a circuit in our study. Got an electrician out, and the $1,000 credit covered everything. Super easy, super fast, and now I feel way safer at home. Couldn’t be happier!”

Why does Ting include a hazard repair credit?
Because we care about preventing fires and protecting our customers and their families. Detecting a hazard is only valuable if you can do something about it.
Ting is more than a plug-in sensor. It’s a sensor and service designed to help detect electrical fire hazards and help families resolve them before they can become fires. The $1,000 hazard repair credit supports that prevention process by helping remove a potential financial barrier when a hidden hazard requires professional repair. The Ting credit almost always covers the entire cost of the repair, meaning you pay nothing out of pocket.
That combination of technology, our expert Fire Safety Team, and support through remediation is how Ting helps prevent electrical fires before they start.
“I received a call from Ting stating there was high voltage in my home. When the technician came out, I was informed my socket needed to be replaced and thankfully it was caught in time. The technician replaced the socket and informed me it was all covered by Ting. I am extremely grateful, as I thought the repairs would be expensive.”
