Our Commitment
For well over 125 years, electricity has fueled our lives. Still, it has also proven to be both mysterious and often dangerous – taking the form of silent and horrible fires that catch homeowners off guard. As it turns out, each hidden electrical fault generates unique but exceedingly tiny signals that indicate something’s not right. Up until now, these signals were largely undetectable, let alone from a simple plug-in sensor.
Our passion and our purpose were solidified by a devastating electrical fire experienced within our Whisker Labs family. Quite simply, we want to help put an end to electrical fires.
We’re thrilled about how Ting has performed for homeowners to date. However, we recognize Ting’s technology is different from other smart home technology such as video doorbells and smart thermostats. Ting is the first major development in fire safety since smoke detectors’ mass-production in the 1970s – a statement we wouldn’t be able to make if we had not created Ting to provide a very simple user experience. And one that is designed to perform for the life of your home.
Your Safety
- We take seriously your decision to help protect your family and home with Ting.
- Our mission is wholly focused on your safety by helping prevent the most devastating type of home fire.
- We would never share technology with homeowners if it were not proven, safe, and easy to implement. We’ve leveraged nearly two decades of research and testing into the development of Ting.
- Equally, we would never share technology that irritates. Ting expertly distinguishes between everyday ‘man-made’ arcing (motors, switches) and arcing ‘in the wild’ from true hazards – so you won’t be bothered with nuisance alarms.
Your Privacy
- We hold solemn our responsibility to safeguard your privacy. This begins with our ‘security by design’ approach and is bolstered by our privacy policy.
- We are not in the business of selling your personal data to 3rd parties. Ting protects our homes as well – and we wouldn’t want our data shared, either.
- We are not in the business of employing your data in the service of anything outside of hazard detection, prevention, home safety and grid safety.
- Important resources where you can learn more:
- Frequently-asked questions about security
- Our privacy policy
- For California residents, our CA privacy disclosures can be found here.
Our Transparency
- You can always expect transparency and honesty from us; we recognize we must earn your trust every day.
- Zero conflicts of interest. We are in the business of providing peace of mind, not generating referrals for contractors.
- Our Ting-certified contractor network consists of local, reputable contractors that you may recognize. This network is fully independent: there are no incentives or ‘side agreements’.
- Contractors are (and must remain) in good standing with the business community and homeowners at large.
- Not all fire hazards require an electrician for remediation, but if required, Ting includes a $ 1,000 lifetime credit to apply toward contractor labor should a fire hazard identified by Ting require a licensed electrician.
- Not all hazards require a professional for repair. When repair is necessary, we never send a contractor without first working with you, and only then, if we have your approval. Our customer testimonials highlight this key distinction.

Even though we have not had any “incidents,” it gives me peace of mind to know that my house is running in a normal range! It is also fun to keep track of our energy usage and to see how something as simple as flipping on a light switch affects the charts!

I LOVE my Ting. It gives me peace of mind when I am away on business travel. Its great knowing my wife and dog are safe at home! When we first moved in our old 1900 city row home we had some issues with outlets intermittently going out. When my neighbor, who is luckily an electrician came to find and fix the issue (before I knew about Ting) I watched as he found loose connections behind all of those outlets as well as a sparking light switch! Shortly thereafter, I found out about Ting and immediately purchased to ensure if anything else ever happened in my home, that I would know about it! I recommend this to everyone I know!

Not only knowing when there are power issues at home, it will let you know when your internet is down or your power goes out.

I forwarded your information to our electric company, and after some delay (it is impossible to speak to a human at the electric company…), they put me in touch with an engineer. The engineer installed a monitor at our meter, and determined that the fluctuation was indeed originating outside of the house. They sent a crew out today, and determined that the problem was with the connection to the meter. They replaced those connections, and said we should be ok now. Thank you for your help in getting this taken care of!

We had experienced a few ‘flaky’ things in our home, which was built in 2013. I was offered the opportunity to get Ting so I jumped on board to have it monitor my home’s electrical network for peace of mind – and thank goodness I did. We installed the Ting device in our home in June. After a couple of months of no issues, Ting detected a clear and present fire hazard inside the radon pump in my attic. Ting even covered the cost of getting it replaced; the Ting technician worked with our electrician to resolve the problem. Without Ting, this would likely have led to a catastrophic fire and loss of our home – or even worse. Thank you Ting! We are big believers in this device!

I saw that the Ting sensor has been sending me power spike notifications, but I didn’t know what to do with that information. I appreciate the email explaining possible issues and what my next steps would be. I called my power company who sent someone out to take a look at my line and it turns out there was an issue! They will be sending an engineer out soon to replace the line to my house. Thank you and everyone at Whisker Labs for the work that you do to keep people safe!

We would recommend Ting to anyone what would like peace of mind knowing that Ting is watching over their homes electrical system.

My HVAC technician was just here and indeed we had a capacitor failing. Thanks to this app I was able to have the repair done prior to complete failure and while still under warranty!

I installed ting on 7/30/19 it showed power burnout off and on and power outage as well as many power surges, I received 28 notifications from 7/30/19 to 8/14/19. My lights would dim often like in the olds day of growing up. I finally call the power company and had them check my transformer and sure enough they did something and so far for the last 3 days I have received NO notification from TING on my iPhone. Great product.
